Services

Plot files (.plt) are files (typically autocad files) which can be distributed and printed by anyone with the same printer installed on their computer. Below is a guide, and the drivers required, to show how to create plot files for the ploters at Eastward Sales. Using plot files is a fast and cheaper way to have drawings printed as it eliminates preparation time.

Xerox 8830 Driver

Many newer versions of Autocad come with the drivers for the Xerox 8830 available, however if your version does not you can click on the link below to download the driver. To install the plotter: open autocad, click on the file menu at the top left of the screen, then click on the "Plotter Manager" option. You can then double click on the add plotter wizard and install the xerox 8830 plotter either by the built in drivers (if appliable) or the downloaded driver. When given the option, you can set the plotter to plot to a file. continue the driver installation.

HP 450C (for colour plots)

If you need to have colour plots made, you should create plot files using the HP 450C driver. The process for installing the HP 450C driver is the similar to the process of installing the Xerox 8830 and as such you should be able to follow the steps outlined above.

Autocad Plotfile Guide

To create a plot file, prepare your document for printing as you would for plotting it to your regular plotter. Set you pen settings, your paper size, scale, and center plot. However select the plotter you wish to make the plot file for (i.e. HP 450C for colour plots or the Xerox 8830 for black and white) then simply check the plot to file box and give the plotfile a name. Next preview and plot as you would normally do.
